The Cathedral in the Parque Central is the prominent building in the city, it has been built various times, first constructed in 1583 and burnt by William Walker in 1856.
It is built in neoclassical style with three naves and four chapels.
Guadalupe church is on La Calzada and was constructed in 1626. In 1856 it was used by William Walker as his last bastion.
La Merced church is very popular as you can get wonderful views of the city from the bell tower.
